Terry Fox School Run Final Report 2021

On Wednesday September the 29th, Richmond St. School participated in our annual Terry Fox Run on our schoolyard. It was a great day all around with a perfect day weatherwise. Each class was able to walk/run in their class’s square to remember and support Terry Fox. It’s the 15th year Richmond has participated in the run and fund-raise money in the support of cancer research. This year our school raised $1210 dollars thanks to parents, students, staff and the Richmond community. Way to go Richmond! Super job!

Hello Parents/Guardians,

We are excited to start a new school year along with the opportunity to educate and see your children once again.  To the new families joining Richmond, a sincere welcome to this great community. Thank you for your patience as we continue to navigate this unprecedented time.  I would like to share with you details to help guide our reopening.

Final transportation routes and seating plans will be available in the NSTS portal on Friday, September 3rd (nsts.ca).  You can access your child’s information by using their Ontario Education Number (OEN), which can be found on their report card.  Junior Kindergarten students received an email detailing their instructions last week.  These final routes will be effective for the first week of school. You can access information at nsts.ca, the parent portal.  Bus students will be dropped off at our new addition gate closest to the Kindergarten wing.  Students will walk down the path to the back area (socially distancing) to the appropriate homeroom designated area.

Richmond Public School will be following the staggered entry for Junior Kindergarten students.  We will welcome our new JK Raptors on Wednesday September 8th.  All students from Senior Kindergarten to Grade 8 will begin on Tuesday September 7th.

We will welcome students at two entry points. The gate on the Collier Road side, and the new Richmond addition side at the Kindergarten wing.  Due to Covid restrictions, parents will drop off students in the care of staff at both entrances.  Zones will be labeled, and areas painted for students once they reach their location in the rear of the school.

No adults are permitted on the school yard or in the school, prior to or during school hours.  Thank you for keeping our students safe.  Please contact the school via email or phone if you wish to speak to someone.

Please review the map of our yard and the location of our homeroom classes where the child(ren) will meet each morning to socially distance and meet their teacher.  Please for this procedure each day (rain, shine, snow).  By the end of this week, you should have been contacted by your child’s homeroom teacher as they are very much looking forward to seeing your child(ren).

A reminder that our playground apparatus is closed until further notice.

Please note that our front entry at the school is a ONE WAY along with a bus loading and drop off zone.  Please obey the parking and directional signs, at all times. All sidewalks that are attached to the school are designated bus drop off and pick up zones.  Please use the appropriate parking spots (if available) or consider parking off site.  Thank you in advance for keeping our students safe.

Parents picking up their child(ren) at the end of the day can do so in the Collier St. Lot (same as last year).  Kindergarten and Primary Parents (JK- Gr 3) are permitted on the yard (socially distancing) beginning at, but no earlier than 2:45 pm to meet their child(ren) in the designated areas (see Map). If a student is permitted to walk on their own or take the bus, they will be dismissed at the appropriate time to walk or ride their bike home.

Please note that Kindergarten students using the bus must have a caring adult waiting at the stop when they arrive home.

Please remember to sign up for School Cash online as all permission forms will be sent via this system (Acceptable Technology Use, Permission to Participate and Parental Daily Screening).  The Parental Daily Screening is an agreement to keep us all safe.  Kindly read all documents carefully before signing off.  It is imperative that we have a correct email and phone number to ensure you receive all school messages and updates from the school.

If you had technology from the school given to you in the spring (chrome books etc.), kindly return it to the school with your child as soon as possible.

Please continue to check out website (Richmond.dsbn.org) for updates and information on a regular basis.
