About Richmond Street Public School

Richmond Street School was officially opened on Tuesday, May 9, 1961. In 1958/59 there was an anticipation of overcrowding conditions due to a planned subdivision called Brock-On-The-Hill. The first enrolment had 211 students. Presently Richmond Street has a student population of approximately 510 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. We have a team of just over 40 staff members composed of teachers, principal, vice-principal, secretary, custodians, support staff, youth counselor, educational assistants, learning resource teachers, and a teacher-librarian.

Richmond Street School provides a rich and varied program in language arts, reading, math, the arts, social sciences, physical education, design and technology, and computers. Students participate in experiences and opportunities which encourage the development of excellence, integrity, tolerance, respect and a sense of social responsibility.

All of our teachers volunteer their time to organize and/or supervise extra-curricular activities for Richmond students.

Richmond Street School enjoys a strong partnership with the School Council and our community partners, all working hard to achieve common goals. Parents also serve on committees and assist with many functions where their expertise and support are invaluable. With the support of staff and parent volunteers, Richmond is able to provide numerous opportunities for our students to grow and develop emotionally, physically and intellectually.
